About Us
and our unique programs
Flexible Walk-in
Nobody likes rushing or feeling stressed in the morning. We have a flexible walk-in time for the first 30 min of each session.
No Uniforms
We believe in celebrating children’s individuality and therefore have no specific uniform policy.
Meals
Creating a culture of health is so important! We involve our students in making meals from garden to table.
Materials
We will always select natural materials over plastics, keeping our health and the environment in mind.
How our nature school works
Sudents gain core competencies
while collaborating in exiting hands-on
projects in a harmoniously joyful and
breathtaking natural environment.
The Waldorf Children’s Garden
Our kindergarten is a unique nature schooling program for children age 2-6, open Monday through Friday from 09.00 to 13.00.
Enrolment is flexible to best suit your family’s schedule or lifestyle. In the early years Mount Solomon puts focus on the child in relation to its environment and community.
Nature-based, seasonal and cultural themes are covered in a exiting tropical, experiential and holistic curriculum.
We work in small groups which ensures that each child is truly given the love
and guidance he or she deserves. By making use of progressive methods and the best learning materials we aim to uphold our high standards and offer a foundational, non-traditional, natural learning experience.
The children start with circle time, they have their own garden and chickens to care for. We build huts and put a lot of importance on play. We create lots of artistic work. We dance and drum while making up theatrical stories. African storytelling is a great way to awaken children’s imagination! Mindfulness helps emotional regulation and deepens our connection to self.
We gratefully make use of the breathtaking natural environment during our many nature walks. Our connection to the people of Mvuleni Village offers our children unique real-life learning experiences.
Early Primary Years
According to the Waldorf philosophy children go through an important developmental transition around the age of 6 or 7.
Each child is different. We carefully assess each student’s readiness to join the primary group. In the primary group we introduce them to a more formal learning experience.
Our early primary group welcomes children age 6 to 10 and is open Monday through Friday from 09.00 to 14.00. Enrolment is flexible to best suit your family’s schedule or lifestyle.
We creatively incorporate academic learning into student projects and grade themes that are very much influenced by local culture and environment.
We learn maths while building furniture using real tools. We practice language arts in creative ways. We even learn Swahili!
Life-skills, Arts and crafts, music, sports and games also still remain a part of the primary weekly schedule.
Weekly nature walks! Excursions. We harvest and sell our produce giving the children farming and entrepreneurial experience and opportunities to design and develop their ideas and passions.
Hands-on learning where children gain real-life lessons in line with the head, hands and heart approach.
Our curriculum honours the rhythm of childhood

Individual Child Evaluation
A big part of teaching is observation. By carefully observing each child individually
we can effectively offer the right challenge for their current developmental stage.
We are constantly taking notes that result in an in-depth individual evaluation at the
end of the school year.
